Inclusion and diversity strategy 2024-2028
The Australian Public Service (APS) is committed to employing, supporting and developing people from all walks of life – regardless of disability, ethnicity, religious beliefs, age, gender or sexual orientation – and to creating a work environment that respects, and reflects, the diversity of the Australian community.
The Productivity Commission is committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive workplace that values people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. As a small APS agency, this means identifying priority focus areas over time and increasing opportunities for everyone to participate. This includes by:
- establishing committees and supporting staff-led employee networks
- building our relationships with other agencies and networks
- enrolling in memberships with diversity organisations
- all of us working together to value and foster inclusion and diversity in our workplace.
About the strategy
The strategy outlines our commitment to building a workplace where everyone finds a sense of belonging regardless of their background, circumstances or identity, and calls on all of us to embrace diversity, champion inclusion and cultivate equity.
It steps out how we will work together to maintain a positive, safe and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, and the actions we will take to promote equitable opportunity at all levels so that everyone can thrive.
Our vision is for a positive and safe workplace for all, grounded in respect, where inclusion and diversity are valued and actively fostered. We seek to create a workplace where all employees have an equitable opportunity to participate, contribute and grow.
Priority outcomes of the strategy
- Purposeful leadership
- Inclusive ways of working
- A safe, healthy and accessible workplace
- A knowledgeable, aware and committed workforce
- A diverse workforce.
