  • Classification: APS Level 5 – Executive Level 2
  • Salary range: $80,537 to $169,057 plus 15.4% super
  • Locations: Melbourne or Canberra
  • Status: Flexible – Full-time/Part-time/Casual
  • Position type: Non-ongoing opportunities (for an initial period of up to 12 months) and temporary transfers or ongoing* movement opportunities for existing ongoing APS employees

About us

The Productivity Commission is the Australian Government's independent research and advisory body on a range of economic, social and environmental issues affecting the welfare of Australians.

The Commission has a significant role under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

The objective of the National Agreement is to enable Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and governments to work together to overcome the inequality experienced by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and achieve life outcomes equal to all Australians.

The opportunities

We are looking for people who want to help improve policies and programs that matter for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

We welcome expressions of interest from professionals who can bring expertise in a range of areas, such as:

  • Policy analysis and advice
  • Data processing, analysis and presentation
  • Qualitative and quantitative research
  • Project management
  • Report writing
  • Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledges and perspectives
  • Demonstrated ability to work and engage with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisations and individuals in a fair, inclusive, ongoing, and reciprocal way.

This register will help us to quickly fill future vacancies that may arise at the APS Level 5 – Executive Level 2 classifications. Positions that become available may be based in either our Melbourne or Canberra offices.

Depending on the business needs and requirements of the Commission, these positions may be offered as either ongoing* or non-ongoing opportunities, which may be on a full-time, part-time or casual basis.

Some of these positions may be filled under Affirmative Measures and are only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The Commission strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who would bring important strengths, capabilities, and attributes to our work.

* Ongoing movements at level may be available to existing ongoing Australian Public Service employees under section 26 of the Public Service Act 1999. Further details on eligibility requirements are outlined in the application form.
