Review paper 3: What we have heard to date — first phase of engagement
Released 09 / 02 / 2023
Review paper 3 summarises what Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations and government bodies told the Commission in the first phase of engagement meetings from July to December 2022.
The paper aims to reflect what we heard in those meetings. It does not make an assessment on what we heard.
Engagement is continuing, with the focus in the first half of 2023 on people and places that the Commission was not able to visit in 2022.
The Commission will publicly release a draft report in July 2023, and a final report will be given to the Joint Council on Closing the Gap in December 2023 and published shortly after.
As specified in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, an independent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led review will be held within 12 months of the completion of the Commission’s report.
