Impact of foot and mouth disease in Australia
Commissioned study
This study has concluded. The research report was released on 12 June 2002.
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer asked the Productivity Commission to undertake a research study on the economic, social and environmental cost of an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Australia, and to report within 6 months.
The Commission consulted widely with industry and governments about the likely impact of a foot and mouth disease outbreak on Australia. In mid March the Commission held a workshop for invited participants to expose its methodology and seek feedback on the assumptions it is using in modelling the potential impact of foot and mouth disease.
