What we’ve been asked to look at
This inquiry examined the effectiveness, efficiency and appropriateness of Part 3 of the Future Drought Fund Act 2019. Part 3 covers the processes for allocating funding to activities that support drought resilience.

The Commission released a paper calling for submissions and comments to the Inquiry. Individuals and organisations providing submissions or comments should have provided evidence to support their views, including data and specific examples where possible.
This paper was released on 19 January 2023.
Initial submissions were due by 3 March 2023.
Interim report release
The Commission sought further information and feedback following the release of the interim report on 13 June 2023.
The report set out the Commission’s interim findings and recommendations on the effectiveness, efficiency and appropriateness of Part 3 of the Future Drought Fund Act.
Final submissions were due by 11 July 2023.
Final report to Government and release
The final inquiry report examines the effectiveness, efficiency and appropriateness of Part 3 of the Future Drought Fund Act 2019. Part 3 covers the processes for allocating funding to activities that support drought resilience.
The report was handed to the Australian Government on 8 September 2023 and publicly released on 26 September 2023.
