Chairman's speech

On 9 November 2000, the Chairman Gary Banks delivered a speech to a symposium 'Renaissance of the Regions' organised by the Institute of Public Administration Australia at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Victoria. The speech includes discussion on the findings of the Commission public inquiry 'Impact of Competition Policy Reforms on Rural and Regional Australia', demographic changes in rural Australia, economic and social forces producing the changes, the impact of government policies, and the role of government.
