A rationale for developing a linked employer-employee dataset for policy research
Staff research note
This note by Matthew Forbes and Patrick Jomini was released on 29 July 2016.
The Foundation Linked Employer-Employee Dataset (Foundation LEED) is an experimental dataset produced by the Australian Bureau of Statistics that seeks to remedy the absence of a representative Australian LEED.
This research note provides an overview of how a LEED can be used to better inform policy. It then describes the Foundation LEED in its current form, and provides suggestions to develop it into a tool for policy research.
